Métro exit, a theater night

Leaving Paris

It’s been a busy past two months, in Europe, traveling to lots of places, catching up with lots of people, catching up with projects, ideas, stuff. Catching up… I feel like that’s what I do most of the time. It can get very tiring. I am always either arriving or departing somewhere, in a hectic haze, and though I am far from being a rootless person, it is sometimes difficult to feel grounded.

Already missing my friends, I am leaving Paris…

Merry Bobong!

My family is very very close and I love nothing more than being home for Christmas. During that time, my parents house becomes like a little bubble of softness, warm and safe, taking me away from all the worries of real life. It all starts with decorating the house with myriads of golden, sliver, red -or this year pink- ornaments while listening to Christmas carols and baking cookies.  Then we go to the market to buy fresh ingredients and cook a beautiful meal on Christmas eve. We organise family outings to museums, go for a stroll in Paris and never miss that Harry Potter, Narnia or Twilight movie that inevitably comes out around the holidays. It is a particularly peaceful time, one that sooth the soul.

But then it is there. You have to go back to school.

What an awful awful day to put right at the beginning of the year. Outside is so very dark, now that you cannot wake up at noon. You have to hear your alarm again, wait for the train in the cold cold weather and seat in a classroom to listen to boring-maths-teacher or mean-German-assistant. Truly, Monday after the Christmas break is an abomination.

This is a post for my siblings, they will know why from the title, and for all of those who want to catch a little bit of that lingering holiday feeling,  to ease the pain at the end of the party…

Merry Christmas. Merry New Year. Merry Bobong!
